My Love Affair with Nature

My origins lie in a picturesque town near Cambridge, UK, called Saffron Walden. It’s a place few have heard of, prompting me to simplify my backstory with “I’m from Cambridge or London” to save time. But it’s the serene countryside of my hometown, not the bustling city streets, that captured my heart. Those childhood walks with my family, watching the sunset paint the sky, and feeling the cool summer air at dusk are my most cherished memories. They’re not grand tales to boast about, but they are where my love for nature took root, offering a sense of anticipation and joy whenever I explore new natural landscapes.

Relocating to San Francisco opened the doors to an array of breathtaking natural wonders. Yosemite National Park, with its awe-inspiring beauty, has become a sanctuary for me, a place I’ve had the privilege of calling one of my offices. Living in Las Vegas now surprises many who only see it as a city of neon lights. Yet, it’s a stone’s throw away from some of the most majestic national parks in the U.S., each with its unique landscape and beauty. From the lush greenery of Yosemite to the stark desert landscapes of Death Valley and the mystical allure of Sedona, my life has been a continuous journey of exploring and connecting with the natural world. And more recently, camping adventures with my young son have added a new layer to our outdoor explorations, hinting at the possibility of becoming an avid camper in the near future.

The Path to Photography

Photography for me began as a family affair, inspired by my mother’s love for capturing moments of our travels across Europe. Realizing the cost associated with film and development led to a more thoughtful approach to photography. I began to ponder over each shot’s significance, its composition, and the story it told. This reflective process became a constant companion, enriching my travels and daily life.

My photography journey deepened when I moved to the Bay Area, where the solitude and beauty of nature provided a canvas for my thoughts and creativity. A simple blog post for a Korean audience looking for unique wedding photo locations led to an overwhelming response and marked the beginning of a significant chapter in my career.
