It’s Not About the Type of Wedding—Why Our Website Redesign Is About You

Why I Followed the Trend

Let me be honest with you. When I first started as a photographer, I didn’t have the confidence to know if what I was doing would actually work. I wanted to shoot more engagement sessions and weddings—I wanted to work—instead of spending all my time creating the perfect website.

So I did what made sense: I followed the trend. I looked at other photographers’ websites and noticed a general structure. Homepage with beautiful images, an about section, portfolio pages, packages and services, maybe some published work, a blog, and a contact page. Honestly, about 95% of photographers were doing exactly the same thing.

And you know what? There’s something good about that. When couples are searching for a photographer, and they land on your site, it doesn’t feel foreign. They’ve been on other photographers’ websites with similar structures, so it’s easy to navigate. They know where to find what they’re looking for.

So I just did that. And it was okay. It worked at a medium level.

Why the Revamp?

After nine years, I finally know what I want. And here’s where it gets confusing: I love adventure elopements and traditional weddings. Intimate gatherings of 20 people and celebrations with 120 guests. I can be the fly on the wall or take charge, directing family photos.

I know—it sounds like I’m all over the place.

But here’s what I’ve realized: it’s not about the type of wedding I want to photograph. It’s about the type of people I want to meet.

I want to work with couples who have a vision but aren’t sure how to get there. Maybe you dream of an adventure elopement in Iceland but dread telling your family they’re not invited. Maybe you want something intimate but worry about hurting feelings.

That’s where I come in—not just as your photographer, but as your guide. I help you navigate those tough conversations. And if compromise is needed? Maybe there’s a way to have both without breaking the bank.

I get it because I’ve lived it. I’ve been married for 12 years. My wife and I are introverts who love nature—we would have absolutely chosen an adventure elopement. But it was the first wedding in both families, and they wanted a big celebration. We had that big wedding. We barely remember it.

At the same time, I genuinely love people and understand the warmth of gathering your community together, whether that’s a big circle or a small one.

That’s exactly why this isn’t about wedding types—it’s about you and your partner. My hope is that this website will guide you through that decision and help you filter what resonates with you. That’s the real goal here.

What’s Changing: Beyond Just Images

Here’s the biggest shift you’ll notice: I’m not trying to win you over with images anymore.

At this point in my career—nearly a decade in—producing quality images is simply expected. Any photographer at this price point or experience level should be delivering strong work consistently. That’s not the differentiator anymore. Hopefully you can agree that the photos I’ve created for my past clients have been above par—I’ve even won some awards globally. But that’s not what I want to lead with anymore.

I want to emphasize the philosophy behind how I run this business. The why behind what I do.

One of the main reasons I love photographing weddings is because your wedding day is the highlight, the peak of your life as a couple. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, a new story. And hopefully there will be so many more highlights along the way—having babies, watching everyone grow, building a family together. But this moment? This is where it all starts.

I’ve always believed that every person’s story is important. Some couples feel like they’re ordinary, like there’s nothing special to tell. But I want to work with people who want to share their stories, because stories are the fuel behind everything we do as humans. We live for stories. That’s what makes us different, right? It’s why we love underdog stories, why we connect with each other.

That’s why, even after almost 10 years in this business, I still want to photograph every wedding. Because every single wedding I’ve photographed has been completely different from the ones I’ll photograph in the future—not because of different eras or generations, but because everyone is unique.

I’m still learning. I’m still working hard. Through consultation calls, questionnaires, meetings, and coffee chats, I’m always listening to your story and trying to figure out the right way to tell it. You’ve probably seen other photographers talk about “telling couple’s stories” on their websites. But this is something I’ve been focusing on for a very long time, and it comes from a deeper place: the philosophy that we as individuals are unique, that there is no one else like us, and that everyone deserves to be heard.

That’s what I want at the core of this business. And hopefully, you’ll be able to see that throughout the new website.

What to Expect from the New Site

The homepage is getting a major overhaul. It’ll start with what I believe in—some of what you just read—then guide you to two paths: Adventure Elopements or Classical Weddings.

Each path has its own vibe. Click into Adventure Elopements and you’ll find past client work, destination recommendations, and how-to guides. Click into Classical Weddings and you’ll see processes for larger celebrations, guest coordination tips, and everything you need for traditional ceremonies.

The goal? By exploring the images and processes, you’ll know which path truly resonates with you.

Can’t decide? Scroll down the homepage and you’ll find a third option: Having Both.

As someone who works with many Asian, Greek, and other cultures where big weddings (often 300+ guests) are non-negotiable, I’ve seen this dilemma firsthand. You want that intimate adventure moment with your partner, but you also need to honor your family and culture.

Here’s the solution we’ve used successfully: do an adventure elopement-style engagement session—or even a full elopement—then follow it with your traditional wedding celebration. It tells the complete story of who you are: someone who values intimacy with your partner and celebrates community with your loved ones.

By the end of your visit, you’ll know if I’m the right photographer for you. And if you find someone else whose vision resonates more? I’m genuinely happy for you.
